Afternoon Tea at Cafe Occidental
Cafe Occidental is a gorgeous part of the hotel with stunning sea views, they serve Afternoon Tea, Pastries and freshly brewed Coffee.
Afternoon tea was very sweet, if a little basic, the sandwiches were egg mayonnaise, cucumber, salmon and cream cheese and ham and cheese. The scones were OK but not brilliant, although being British we are rather picky about our scones.
The sweets plate was obviously the best part, with the Baklava (there were two different types), really standing out.
It was seriously hot in Cyprus so slushies were the main drink of choice, Baby Love loved the bright red Strawberry Slushies but I preferred the bright blue Blueberry Slushies.
The central picture is a Bermuda Iced Coffee, it was delicious and I had one almost every day. To the right you have a normal latte and a Butterscotch Paradise Coffee, the latter knocked my socks off. There was a lot of alcohol in this bad boy and I mean a LOT, needless to say I was a little tipsy and decided to stick to a good old latte in future.
The first photograph is of a Lime Daiquiri, this was lovely, a tiny bit strong for my taste but it had a brilliant flavour.
Everyday at about 7 o 'clock some delicious sweet treats were delivered to our room! Obviously I loved this. The little lemon mousses in the lower central picture were my favourite, I expected them to be white chocolate so just grabbed one. I licked the lot off my fingers Nigella style and loved every lemony second of it.
The Macarons broke my heart, they were the worst Macarons I have ever tried, which was such a shame. They were crunchy like a biscuit the whole way through. How, I asked Baby love, can a pastry chef with such obvious talent make such a bad Macaron? You will see just how amazing the pastry chef is in my next post.
I loved the little strawberry tarts and the syrup soaked sponges, they're in the top right picture and look like little donuts.
My next post is the big one, be prepared to see some serious brilliance x
