My 1st Blog Anniversary & Another Year In Cupcakes

Today is my blog's first birthday!

I can't believe I'm one year in, it's been a fantastic year, I had wanted to set up a blog for ages and one year ago today I finally got up the courage to do it.

I left comments on some of my favourite blogs asking if they would come and check me out, to those of you who did and still follow me now, (you know who you are), I can't thank you enough.  It was all of you lovely lot who gave me the confidence to continue and I cannot thank every single one of my followers for all you lovely comments and support.

One year ago today I set myself a goal, reach 150 followers in my first year of blogging, two days ago I was on 148! It was killing me and I tweeted something to that effect, lo and behold not two but three of my lovely twitter followers became lovely blog followers and just like that I had not just reached my goal but surpassed it.  To say I was elated would be an understatement, don't get me wrong I was over the moon with 148 but it felt brilliant to reach my goal just in the nick of time.

I've loved every second of this year and hope my blog is still improving and growing everyday, thank you again to all of you for joining me this year and I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing it.

I decided to start my second year of blogging the same way I started the first, so here is my second year in cupcakes, a cute cupcake perfect for each month of the year.

A Year In Cupcakes

Start the year right with these cute and colourful lollipop cupcakes, reminiscent of Willy Wonka and glorious candy land fun these cupcakes are a quick and easy design but sure to be a favourite, bringing out the child in everyone.

Valentines day and love is in the air. These cupcakes are romantically adorned with love hearts and bows in deep red.  The cupcakes must of course be chocolate.

I love lemon cupcakes for Easter and these embossed snoozing bunny toppers are seriously cute.

In April Buttercream Bakery supplied cupcakes for an Alice In Wonderland themed fashion show, both the clothes and event were amazing and the cupcakes went down a storm so they had to be my April cupcake of the month.

Beautiful and bright, sunflowers just epitomise sunshine, I have a huge soft spot for these cupcakes and think they are a perfect welcome for summer.

June is hubby's birthday and we spent most of it in Las Vegas, the holiday was so amazing I had to make some cupcakes in it's honour. The chocolate playing cards are one of the coolest toppers ever and just looking at them makes me want to go back to Vegas.

It's getting hot and everyone wants ice cream, so much so in fact that this cupcake has resorted to masquerading as an ice cream to get some attention.  Lashings of frosting and a flake, what could be better?

In August I was asked to make some fetish cupcakes for a fetish art show, it was a daunting task but the end product was well worth the worry.  The mask above was my favourite but I also made top hats and whips and black leather corsets.  Terribly kinky!

We had another big event to make cupcakes for in September, the Brighton Punk Festival, there were Mohawks everywhere, even on the cupcakes!  The one above was my favourite though, who said punk rock couldn't be cute?

I love Halloween cupcakes and these silhouette cupcakes are easy to do at home, just download some creepy templates and use them as stencils.  I love the creepy claw and the black looks great against the bright orange frosting.

Ah Lotso you stole my heart, so cute he made it onto my blog background.  I love his angry little face so much I want to squish it!  November is my birthday and I want Lotso!

Another adorable little character, this penguin was my favourite Christmas cupcake, too cute for words with his little rosy cheeks and pink Santa hat, he is now my go-to Christmas penguin and will definitely make an appearance next year.

This year is set to be bigger and better with more cupcakes and bakes than ever before, thank you all again for following The Art of Being Perfect I can't tell you how much I appreciate you all. x

A truly impressive year in cupcakes! Congratulations on your target! Perhaps you could help me get my blog off the ground by following me?

I love the look of the ice cream cupcakes. What kind of nozzle did you use and how do you create that beautiful ripple effect?

As a new follower, I look forward to seeing what you have in store for 2011 : )

Congratulations! A year blogging is great and reaching your followers goal is brilliant too!
I found you only 2-3 months ago and you had me hooked from the very beginning. Initially I was drawn in by your amazing cupcake designs (I think my absolute favourite is the sewing one so far) but I love all your posts and your friendly, helpful attitude. Thanks. Lou.

Did you use a mold to make the masks (I believe it was for August). My daughter has a fascination with masks and wants a masquerade theme to her birthday party this year. Trying to find little sweets to place on top of her cupcakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
